Only registration with Kazpatent gives you exclusive rights to a name and logo in Kazakhstan. We check the mark before filing, choose the classes and handle the application and examination through to the certificate.
Trademark registration in Kazakhstan is needed even if your brand is already protected in your home country or in the European Union: trademark rights only apply where the mark is registered. Being the first to sell under a name does not give you rights either. Priority is set by the filing date, and if someone files a similar mark first, you will be arguing against their priority. A certificate also matters for protecting marketplace listings, for contracts with distributors and for licensing.
Examination is carried out by Kazpatent (the National Institute of Intellectual Property, NIIS). The full examination takes up to 7 months from the filing date, and the whole path to a certificate usually takes 8–12 months. Protection lasts 10 years and can be renewed. We check the mark for similarity before you pay any fees, choose the Nice classes, prepare the application and respond to the examiners. We work with Kazakh and foreign right holders, including through the Madrid System.
Usually 8–12 months from application to certificate; protection lasts 10 years and can be renewed.
Timelines are approximate: government agencies, consulates and banks set them.
Our service fee is from $800. Government fees, translations, insurance and other mandatory costs are paid separately; we send the full estimate before you sign.
Full examination at Kazpatent takes up to 7 months from the filing date, and it usually takes 8–12 months from application to certificate. Accelerated examination is shorter but requires a separate fee. The timing also depends on whether the examiners raise questions.

Yes. A non-resident cannot file directly with Kazpatent and needs a representative in Kazakhstan; we take care of that part. Another option is to register the mark in the name of your group's Kazakh LLP, if you have one.
Protection lasts 10 years and can be renewed every 10 years with no limit on the number of renewals. It is best to file the renewal request before the term ends, so there is no gap in protection.
Most often because of similarity to an already registered mark, the descriptive nature of the mark or a lack of distinctive character. A preliminary search reveals these risks before you file and before you pay the fees.
Yes. Using a name without registration does not give you exclusive rights, and priority is set by the filing date. The sooner you file, the lower the chance that someone gets ahead of you with a similar mark.
No. Decisions are made by government agencies, consulates and banks. We are responsible for preparing and checking documents, filing and support, and we tell you about the risks upfront.
We will check whether the program fits your citizenship, income and family, and send an estimate with the full list of costs.
