The individual identification number without which a foreigner in Kazakhstan cannot open a bank account, get an electronic signature or register a company. We prepare your documents and translation in advance and accompany you to the Public Service Center.
An IIN for foreigners in Kazakhstan is a 12-digit number that is assigned once and used in all dealings with banks, government bodies and employers. You need it for a bank account and card, an electronic digital signature (EDS), registering an LLP or becoming a director, work, taxes and a residence application. Non-residents can currently get an IIN only in person: at a Public Service Center in Kazakhstan or through eResidency. It cannot be obtained under a power of attorney or through a Kazakh consulate.
Since you have to travel anyway, the key is not to travel twice. We check your passport in advance, prepare a notarized translation if your passport is not in Russian or Kazakh, and accompany you to the Public Service Center. We pick the travel date with a buffer, because issuing IINs to foreigners is sometimes paused for short periods. After the IIN we move straight on to the EDS, a bank account or company registration.
In person only: at a Public Service Center in Kazakhstan or through eResidency; an IIN is not issued under a power of attorney or through a Kazakh consulate.
Our service fee is from $400. Government fees, translations, insurance and other mandatory costs are paid separately; we send the full estimate before you sign.
Visit a Public Service Center in Kazakhstan in person with your passport. If your passport is not in Russian or Kazakh, you will need a notarized translation of it. There is also an online route through eResidency, but it offers less. We prepare your documents before the trip so you get the number on your first visit.
No. Non-resident individuals receive an IIN only in person at a Public Service Center or through eResidency. Neither a representative with a power of attorney nor a Kazakh mission abroad can obtain the number for you.
If your passport is not in Russian or Kazakh, yes: you need a notarized translation. We prepare it in advance and check how your name is spelled, because a mismatch between the translation and the passport is a common reason for a repeat visit. Since a trip is unavoidable, it is worth combining the visit with the EDS and a bank account.
It depends on your goal. eResidency is a government program for foreigners that lets you apply online, but its range of uses is narrower than that of a regular IIN. For an LLP, tax reporting or dealings with government bodies, we work out before you apply whether it will be enough.
An IIN is assigned to an individual; a BIN is assigned to a legal entity, branch or representative office. If you need a number for a foreign company, that is a separate procedure, a BIN for a non-resident, and it can be done remotely under a power of attorney. The director of such a company will still need their own IIN.
No. An IIN is assigned once and stays the same when you receive a temporary or permanent residence permit or citizenship. Once you have it, you use it for everything in Kazakhstan: banking, taxes, work and transactions. There is no need to restore or change it when your status changes.
No. Decisions are made by government agencies, consulates and banks. We are responsible for preparing and checking documents, filing and support, and we tell you about the risks upfront.
We will check whether the program fits your citizenship, income and family, and send an estimate with the full list of costs.
