Kazakhstan Digital Nomad Visa: Neo Nomad (B12-1)

A multiple-entry visa for up to one year for people who work for a foreign employer or clients and want to live in Kazakhstan. We check whether you meet the conditions and prepare your application package.

IT and remote work

The Kazakhstan digital nomad visa is called Neo Nomad, category B12-1. It has been available since November 17, 2024, for foreigners who earn at least $3,000 a month from sources outside Kazakhstan. You prove this income with a bank statement covering 6 months. You also need health insurance, a criminal record certificate and a tax return from your country of residence. Family members receive a visa for the same period.

You submit the documents yourself, in person, at a Kazakh embassy or consulate. The review usually takes about 5 business days. Our part of the work comes before that: checking your income source and statements, collecting and proofreading the package, filling in the application form and explaining how the appointment works. If the visa doesn't fit your situation, we tell you right away, before you start gathering documents.

FAQ

How much does it cost?

Our service fee is on request. Government fees, translations, insurance and other mandatory costs are paid separately; we send the full estimate before you sign.

What is the Kazakhstan digital nomad visa?

It is the Neo Nomad visa (B12-1): multiple-entry, valid for up to one year, for foreigners earning at least $3,000 a month from abroad. It has been available since November 17, 2024, and lets you live in Kazakhstan while you keep working for a foreign employer or foreign clients.

Does the visa make sense if I can already enter Kazakhstan without one?

Citizens of Russia and other EAEU countries can stay in Kazakhstan visa-free for 90 days in any 180-day period. Neo Nomad makes sense if you want to live in the country longer, for up to a year, and your income comes from abroad. We check how this works for your citizenship.

Can I work for a Kazakhstan company on a Neo Nomad visa?

No. The visa is designed for people who work for a foreign employer or clients. If you take a job with a Kazakhstan LLP, you need a different immigration status and, as a rule, permit documents from the employer.

Can the visa be extended?

Plan for one year. Sources disagree on whether an extension is available, so we don't promise one. Closer to the end of your stay, we check the rules in force at that time and suggest your options.

Do I have to pay tax in Kazakhstan on this visa?

There is no clear answer for 2026. It depends on how many days you spend in Kazakhstan and where else you are a tax resident. Earlier guidance saying foreign income is not taxed was issued under the old tax code, so we work it out for your specific situation.

How is Neo Nomad different from Digital Nomad Residency?

Neo Nomad is a visa. Digital Nomad Residency is a pilot program offering a simplified residence permit for IT specialists through Astana Hub, with its own requirements. We help you see which option is closer to your situation.

Do you guarantee the result?

No. Decisions are made by government agencies, consulates and banks. We are responsible for preparing and checking documents, filing and support, and we tell you about the risks upfront.
