A residence permit for people who work remotely for a foreign company or for clients outside Montenegro. The Adriatic, the euro, a clear procedure and the option to bring your family.
The Montenegro digital nomad visa suits employees of foreign companies, freelancers and business owners whose income comes from abroad. There are no requirements for your profession or education. The key is to prove a steady income: according to the latest figures, the benchmark is about €1,800 a month for the main applicant, plus an additional amount for each family member. The status is granted for up to two years and can be renewed.
The difficulty in Montenegro lies in the paperwork rather than the requirements. The criminal record certificate is accepted only in a specific form, the lease has to be notarized with a land registry (cadastre) extract attached, and every document must be translated into Montenegrin by a court translator. A mistake at any of these steps leads to refusal or a second filing. We check each document in advance and submit a complete file.
The Ministry of the Interior review usually takes 3–6 weeks once the full file and biometrics are submitted.
Timelines are approximate: government agencies, consulates and banks set them.
Our service fee is from $2,400. Government fees, translations, insurance and other mandatory costs are paid separately; we send the full estimate before you sign.

Yes. A spouse and children under 18 get residence permits through family reunification after the main applicant receives the card. All family members must be listed in the lease, and each needs insurance and translated documents proving the family relationship.
Income from remote work for a foreign employer is exempt from Montenegrin income tax under this status. If you start working with local clients, you will need a different status. Taxes in your country of citizenship are a separate question, and we go through it before you move.
No, time on a digital nomad permit does not count toward permanent residence. If you want to stay in Montenegro long term, you can switch to another basis, for example through your own company. From then on, your time starts counting toward permanent residence.
It depends on the country that issued the document. For some countries an apostille on the criminal record certificate is sometimes not required, but this has to be confirmed with the Ministry of the Interior office where you file. A court translation into Montenegrin is required for every document. Requirements differ between offices, so we check them for your city.
No. Decisions are made by government agencies, consulates and banks. We are responsible for preparing and checking documents, filing and support, and we tell you about the risks upfront.
We will check whether the program fits your citizenship, income and family, and send an estimate with the full list of costs.
