Hungary Business Residence Permit Through Your Own Company

A residence permit for people who open their own business in Hungary and run it themselves. We register the company, prepare the business plan and handle the residence application.

Entrepreneurs

A Hungary business residence permit suits entrepreneurs who want to live in the EU and run a business from inside the country. The usual vehicle is a Kft, the Hungarian limited liability company. The minimum share capital is HUF 3 million. The money is not frozen: the company can use it for rent, salaries and other expenses. You become the founder and, as a rule, the managing director, and then apply for residence as the person running your own business.

The immigration authority looks at whether the business is real, not at the balance in the account. The key document is the business plan, which has to show that the company will operate and provide you with enough income to live in Hungary. You will also need personal funds for the first period, housing and insurance. The range of permitted activities is wide: IT, consulting, services, tourism and trade.

Who it is for

  • Entrepreneurs ready to open and run a business in Hungary
  • Company owners who want to enter the EU market
  • Professionals planning to work for themselves in consulting, IT or services
  • Families where the main applicant opens the company and relatives follow later
  • People who need a residence permit that allows business activity, not just living in the country

Requirements

  • A company registered in Hungary, usually a Kft, with share capital of at least HUF 3 million
  • The applicant is a founder and, preferably, the managing director
  • A realistic business plan showing the company's income and your ability to generate it
  • Personal funds to live on while the business gets going
  • Housing in Hungary and health insurance for the period of the permit
  • A registered office address and accounting services for the company

  • Funds of unclear origin and large deposits right before filing raise questions

FAQ

How much does it cost?

Our service fee is from $4,400. Government fees, translations, insurance and other mandatory costs are paid separately; we send the full estimate before you sign.

How much do I need to invest for a Hungary business residence permit?

The minimum share capital of a Kft is HUF 3 million. This is the company's own money, and it can be spent on operating costs. Separately, you need to show personal funds to live on in Hungary until the business starts generating income. There is no fixed amount for that, and we will discuss a benchmark during the consultation.

Do I have to be the director of my own company?

Formally no, but it makes things much easier. When the founder runs the company personally, the immigration authority understands why you need to live in Hungary. If a hired manager is the director, it is harder to explain your role and why you need to be there.

How long does the whole process take?

Company registration usually takes from a few days to a couple of weeks, opening a bank account up to a month, and then come the residence file and the review. Overall, plan on several months from start to card. Timing depends on the banks and the immigration authority.

Can my family move with me?

Yes, a spouse and minor children can get residence permits through family reunification. You need to show income for everyone, housing and insurance. Sometimes the family joins not straight away but after the first renewal. We check the order of steps for your situation in advance.

Do I have to live in Hungary full time?

There is no strict rule on the number of days for this permit, but it assumes that you run the business in the country yourself. If at renewal it turns out you are hardly ever in Hungary, the immigration authority will have questions. The center of your life and business should be here.

What happens to my permit if the business doesn't take off?

Renewal depends on whether the company operates, files its reports and pays taxes. If the business isn't developing, extending your status will be difficult. That is why we put realistic numbers in the business plan rather than attractive promises.

Do you guarantee the result?

No. Decisions are made by government agencies, consulates and banks. We are responsible for preparing and checking documents, filing and support, and we tell you about the risks upfront.
